He knew from the core that Hassan was better than him in so many aspects. A good son, a good friend, a good human and the best Kite Runner he knew. The constant feeling of not being loved enough by his own father was traumatising enough for Amir. And the fact that Hassan took his father’s attention and appreciation on his behalf slowly gave birth to one of the most destructive quality a human can possess. ENVY. A hole in their friendship. The difference in their social status. Another hole. An envious person will try to hurt the others or let them be hurt. What happened that day on the kite festival wouldn’t have happened, things had turned out differently had Amir shown some courage, some empathy, some humanity……

But he didn’t, he let it all happen. He didn’t know then that he had booked himself a suffering for a lifetime. An undetachable memory. An unmendable mistake!

“BUT DESTINY PLAYS IT’S ROLE IMMACULATELY”. After being worlds apart from each other for years, Amir and Hassan’s interlinked fate surfaces once more. All the past mistakes demand to be dealt with. Justice demands to be served to the unjust. Truth reveals itself finally…. there is suffering again but this time the suffering is sweet for Amir, it’s liberating! It binds him tightly before leaving him once and for all… Life gives him the chance to mend mistakes and detach himself from his guilt.

About the Author

Khalid Hosseini, born on 4th March 1965, is an Afghan- American novelist, UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador and former physician. The Kite Runner was the best-selling novel of 2005 in the US. Khalid Hosseini is currently a Goodwill Envoy of the United Nations High Commissioner for refugees. He is better known for his heart touching, rather heart-breaking fiction stories. The story flows like a waterfall… It flows through the nerves and freezes the brain at times. It will make you question yourself. How loyal are you as a human? As a friend?
