Description

A group of pensioners intending on solving murder mysteries is as serious a business as a bunch of teenagers doing drugs. Although unsolved murders can be ten folds more addictive than drugs, we all agree to that.

The Plot 

Citizens of the Cooper Chase Retirement Village are in their eighties but undoubtedly embody the enthusiasm of their fifties. Among them is a group called the Thursday Murder Club, a group of retired professionals determined to provide justice to the unfortunate victims of murder along the years. Every Thursday they meet to check their progress. According to them, with their children away and grandchildren visiting once in a while, one needs something to fill up the long hours of the day, to keep the constant fear of death at bay, something to work on in order to keep their memory intact, but mainly to provide justice to the sufferers of the crime.Coopers Chase is a lovely place. A village in itself with all the amenities to suit the convenience of its residents who live in  harmony with each other. Everything is jolly good, until Ian Ventham announces, against the opinion of many residents, to renovate Coopers Chase. And this is where the drama begins.The Thursday Murder Club is already working on a murder when one of the property developers is found murdered at his home. The club now bears an additional responsibility of solving a fresh murder mystery. None of the residents have seen an actual murder before. But they will do everything in their power to get to the bottom of it. Even if it comes down to confronting the suspects head on or befriending the police.Even before the first murder is resolved, between the renovation argument chaos, everyone is struck when yet another murder is committed. Fingers are now being pointed to the residents of Coopers Chase and the very members of the Murder Club along with the old business partners of the victims with a dark past. The police would very much like the Murder Club to keep their noses out of their business but, who is going to stop a few determined and eager to help pensioners, especially when they have two back-to-back murders to crack. And no matter how hard the police tries, it always finds the Thursday Murder Club a step ahead of themselves. How do they even do that?

A no nonsense, witty and fun read, which implies at never underestimating the elderly. After all, age is just a number. This one will surely keep you hooked till the end.

The Characters

Elizabeth– The unofficial leader of the club who knows exactly what she is doing. Her every move is planned and very cautiously executed. She knows how to bring out the best qualities of her friends.

Joyce- The new member of the club. Sweet, soft spoken and forever jovial Joyce, loves to offer a helping hand whenever asked to. Joyce might use words seldom, but her senses are always perked up to catch whatever is happening around.

Ron– Strong, hot headed and ever ready to plunge into an ongoing fight or he might as well pick up one by himself. If something is about to turn into a heated topic, Ron would very much like to be a part of that.

Ibrahim– A retired psychiatrist who spends sleepless nights because of the patients whose pain he couldn’t ease. Hardworking and always eager to help his fellow companions.

Donna– Part of the Kent Police, who would definitely like to spend her time working on something spicy and big, instead of delivering lectures on house security and casual burglaries.
