About the book:
The first fully independent book in the Never After Series, a collection of shattered fairy tales where the villains live happily ever after, is the dark contemporary romance Hooked. It is not a fantasy or an exact retelling.
Tropes in the book:
• Dark Peter pan retelling
• touch her you die
• Villainous main male character hell-bent on revenge
James “Hook” Barrie plans to exact revenge on Peter Michaels for killing his family. He made preparations for the ideal moment until he ran across Wendy Michaels, Peter’s daughter. He didn’t include her in his retaliation, but someway he managed to seduce her. Wendy is an innocent woman who is drawn to Hook, who is an anti-hero. This version of Peter Pan received five stars for its passion, developed characters, and suspenseful narrative twist. The tale is exciting, and the sex scenes are spicy. It is best to read this with no and let the narrative guide you. The gradual burn will keep you on edge. I adore it a lot. It was a terrific, dark retelling that has gained popularity.
The protagonist of the gloomy love story Hooked is Wendy Michaels, Peter’s daughter. As a result of Peter’s business decision to develop his company and engage in some illicit dealings that his children are unaware of, they leave Florida behind and go up north. Since Wendy’s mother died when she was still a child, her father has devoted himself to his career, leaving Wendy to care for her brother Jon, who is now a teenager. Wendy and Jon have both been shielded from Peter’s secrets. When Wendy goes out with her pals to a bar, she attracts Hook’s interest because of the air of purity she exudes and the fact that everyone treats her like glass rather than the lady she is trying to become. Hook recognizes Wendy as soon as he hears her name, and he intends to get close to her to see her father and exact revenge on him for having killed Hook’s parents when he was a young child, forcing him to live with his harsh uncle.
Hook had been taught from an early age to be emotionless and to keep his circle small, but as he comes to know Wendy, he doesn’t anticipate that he will truly begin to enjoy her. No matter what he does or how hard he tries to convince himself that he is merely using her, he can’t let her go because she is the light in his darkness. One of the first individuals Wendy has encountered who she thinks prioritizes her in their life and makes her feel safe and wanted is Hook. She confides in him with her life and her affections despite his gloom and enigmatic aura till everything goes wrong.
Characters:
Wendy Michaels: Wendy is sweet and innocent. She’s grown up sheltered from everything her father does. Everyone treats her like glass and like a lady how who wants them to. James “hook” Barrie: Hook is handsome and dangerous. He wants revenge on wendy’s father for killing his parents and leaving him with his cruel uncle. He seduces wendy for revenge yet he can’t seem to let her go.
Hooked quotes:
• You want to watch the world burn?”Let me guess, you’ll set it on fire?” I ask. He chuckles, the sound vibrating through me settling into my bones. “No, darling. I’ll hand you the match, and stand at your back, watching you become queen of the ashes.
• The greatest thing I’ve ever done in my life was to love you, Wendy, darling.
• Just remember that whenever things feel bleak, all situations are temporary. It’s not your circumstance that determines your worth, it’s how you rise from the ashes after everything burns.
