“When I have a little money, I buy books; and if I have any left, I buy food and clothes.” – Erasmus
Wonder why you can’t sit down to read? Do you also feel reading is a task rather than a hobby? It is undeniable that reading is important. One of the happiest moments known to humankind is flipping through a good book, which has benefits such as lowering stress, building character, and introducing one to a vast universe of knowledge. There are a lot of fascinating facts about reading, and we have scanned through the majority of them to create this wonderful list for you.
Establish A Reading List
Making a number of titles you want to read is a great place to start, in our opinion. A list of books you must read to learn more about a subject or area of study that interests you, for instance, or a collection of novels you’ve always wanted to check out but haven’t had the chance to. You have the option of using lists which other people have made in addition to making your own.
Set A Target
Setting a goal is a smart way to spur yourself on to read more. You could, for instance, decide to read a specific number of books or pages this year, and then work toward achieving that goal. The Bookly app as well as the GoodReads.com Reading Challenge are a couple of resources you can use to help you meet your reading objectives.
Decide On A Time To Read
You must plan reading time for your day if you want to guarantee that you read every day. Reading can be done at any time, including first thing every morning, during the commute, just before bed, and even during lunch.
Find A Reading Companion
To help you hold yourself accountable for achieving your reading goals, you can also find a reading partner. This person could be a close friend, your partner, or a work colleague. With your reading partner, you can begin reading the same book and talk about it either as you go along or after you have both finished it.

Locate A Good Reading Location
Finding a comfortable reading spot will encourage you to read more. Preferably, this should be done in a place that is quiet and distraction-free. There are many places you can read, including your bed, a cosy chair or sofa, a nearby park, and then of course — the library.
Take Distractions Away
Turn off the television as well as put your mobile phone on silent if necessary to remove any potential distractions from your reading.
Active Reading
Although not reading at all is preferable to passive reading, I strongly advise you to give active reading a try. When I say “read actively,” what I mean is to reflect on what you’re reading, mark passages that you find significant or intriguing, and make notes either in the margins of the book or in a separate notebook. Use the highlighting as well as note features on one’s smartphone or eBook reader if you’re reading on one of these devices.
Maintain A Reading Log
I strongly advise maintaining a reading diary where you can record your favourite quotes, list the books you’ve read, write down any related thoughts, and make notes about what you’ve read. You can revisit these later to jog your memory or for inspiration.
Take A Book with You Wherever You Go
Always keep a few books with you, whether they are actual books or eBooks on a mobile phone or eBook viewer. You can read whenever you have the chance if you do it that way. This enables you to read during your downtime rather than scrolling through one’s Facebook or Instagram feed.

Decide when to stop
You are not required to finish each book you begin. Simply put down the book you’re reading and pick up another one if it’s dull or doesn’t meet what you expected. The 50-page rule is a useful one that I frequently apply. Every book I start, I read the very first 50 pages. After 50 pages, if I’m still not enjoying it, I just put the book down and pick up another.
Reading should take the place of other leisure activities
Try replacing other forms of entertainment with reading as a way to increase your reading. For instance, reading a book rather than watching TV or movies, playing video games, or unthinkingly perusing Instagram’s Explore tab. You will be able to read many more books each year as a result.
Read several books simultaneously
Reading several books at once is something I enjoy doing. I simply switch to a new book whenever I get tired of one or want a change of pace. Always reading one work of fiction and one work of non-fiction at the exact same time is a great way to achieve this.
I’m hoping that these pointers will encourage you to read more and make reading a daily habit. Go read a book right away! If you are still confused about where to buy books online in India, check out the Bookbins store NOW!
