Synopsis
When is it too late to break out of the friend zone?
Hello, my name is Bree Camden, and my best friend and star quarterback Nathan Donelson and I are over heels in love (so is half of America, judging by the tabloids and how much the guy dates). Admitting is the first step, right? But I can never tell him since I know he doesn’t sees me that way. Nothing except good friendship between us, no touching the hottest man alive, please! Everything is just the way I like it. Yes. Good. Our friendship is going great until I accidentally tell a reporter the truth after drinking too much tequila, at which point everyone appears to think Nathan and I should be together. Oh, and did I mention that we signed a deal with…oops, forgot I can’t tell anyone about it—that requires us to date in public for three weeks till after the Super Bowl! My best buddy is currently blurring all the lines and acting extremely platonically, and I’m just fighting to prevent my body from igniting whenever he touches me. How am I supposed to pretend to date him and then nothing changes between us? especially when it nearly appears like he is advocating for something entirely else.

Tropes in the books
- Best friends to lover
- Fake dating
- Miscommunication
Bree, a former ballerina who had an injury a few years ago, now runs a dance school whose mission is to provide young girls with a creative outlet, regardless of their ability to pay for lessons. Despite barely making ends meet, she makes every effort to be there for the girls and this studio since they are so important to her. She enjoys her life despite living in a small, mold-filled flat with sticky floors and an odor resembling human armpits. I adore her. She is so silly and lively, and I adore that she is living a fulfilling life. Oh, and she has this really sweet habit of buying something and giving it to someone if they remind her of them while she is shopping. The ace quarterback of an NFL football team, Nathan has once led his squad to the Super Bowl and may do so again. He has a pure heart. He doesn’t give a damn about fame, money, or anything else. He is affable, charming, obedient, watchful, and incredibly loving. He has a stunning, spacious home with a magnificently large kitchen and floor-to-ceiling windows that face out onto the ocean. He also has a dedicated bedroom in his house for Bree so that she can stay there if she gets too tired to walk home after an evening of watching movies with him, regardless of the girl who is currently clinging to his elbow. For years, Bree and Nathan have been best friends, and their relationship is so adorable. Every Tuesday morning, regardless of everything else going on in their life, they run together. They hang out together as frequently as they can, have access to each other’s homes, and will do anything to protect the other, including committing crimes. Since high school, they have been secretly in love, but they are afraid to tell about it for fear of damaging their friendship.
